Another Fantastic Retreat with Kathleen Laurel Sage

We have just enjoyed the most fantastic three day retreat with Kathleen Laurel Sage here at Quilt Sandwich.

The first day we spent playing with Zentangles.  Here are some of Kathleens

and here are some of our attempts

This beautiful peacock was made by Denise. She decided to add some colour with fabric paints at home and came back the next day with it all framed up.

Day Two was spent playing with Organza, water soluble stabilizer (Romeo)  and thread.
Here is some of Kathleens work

and here is some of our vases drying

flowers for the embellishing of the vase drying on a plate

Our last day was spent leaning more free motion techniques to make poppies and clematis
These are kathleens'

and here is one of our attempts which were done free motion in an embroidery hoop using our sewing machines.

We had a fabulous time and although most of the techniques were initially totally out of some students comforts zones, everyone really enjoyed learning new things and having a go at some really easy techniques which generated fantastic results.

We have invited Kathleen back again next year and we will be 'making fabric' which can then be used as the student leisure in either their quilting, embroidery, garment making, scrap booking, paper crafting or whatever. So be sure to keep a close eye on the newsmails and book up when the details come out. These workshops/retreat are sure to be popular.

Morning stroll round the Garden

Full house last night, so a very busy breakfast this morning. Boy it was hot in the kitchen!

After dealing with the departing guests I decided to have a stroll round the garden and it struck me that we don't normally take many pics of the garden, so here are a few. Shame we really don't get time to look after it properly or enjoy it ourselves, but our guests certain enjoy it out there - its a real suntrap.

View down the garden towards our Scooter Docking cabin / golf club store & maybe soon to be ............watch this space - LOL

& the latest problem......

The plants, tree and ivy from the other side are causing our wall to topple over. However our neighbours at The Royal British Legion Alderson House will not take any responsibility for the damage their uncontrolled plants have caused.
The rebuild cost is likely to be around £1200. Stalemate at the moment.
