Another great retreat with Beryl Frank

Last week saw the return of Beryl Frank to The Royal Bridlington for three fun packed days of projects.

Here are the samples Beryl made for her projects.

Day One - Logs

Day 2 - Dresden Daisy with a twist

Day Three - Tree of Life

The blocks could be made and either used in a quilt, cushions or other for another project such as a bag.

Beryl worked out a smart cutting plan using 12 inch squares or a layer cake. When some blocks had been made Beryl demonstrated the different layouts which could be achieved.

 Day Two

Foundation piecing & setting in a circle.  I think I got so engrossed, I forgot to take pictures of this one - lol  so here is mine.  The 12 pieces of  'pie' are individually foundation pieced then joined together.

Day Three

Tree of Life -machine applique.

Beryl sharing tips for perfect applique.

A fabulous three days with lots of techniques and tips. Beryl is also a great tutor for the less experienced quilter too. She will be here again next year - dates to be announced soon on the website.

Retreat with Beryl Frank

We have just had a superb three day retreat with Beryl Frank.

Day one - Bargello

We could choose to make either a cushion or a quilt using a quilt as you go bargello technique.

After selecting our colour choices and arranging them into order, we sewed whole 2 inch strips together & then pressed then joined the last seam to make a tube. Next we cut the required size strips according to our cutting diagrams and placed on to our wadding which we had marked out with a 3 inch grid for guidance and sewed in place.

Day Two - Seminole

Day Three - Curved piecing

Today again we had a choice of a quilt, cushion or blocks for future projects.

 and here is Beryl

These next blocks were made by two ladies who we patchwork virgins and it was their first workshop.
 and here they are -

We had a super three days, Beryl is a superb tutor for all levels of ability and she will be teaching here again next year.
