Charity Quiltathon 2016

This week Quilt Sandwich held our second Charity Quiltathon at The Royal Bridlington.

This year our charities are -

Yorkshire Air Ambulance
The Childrens Hospital, Sheffield
East Riding Domestic Violence Accommodation Project.

Quilters from all over the UK donated fabrics, scraps, orphan blocks, ufos, quilt tops etc and then volunteers came along a sewed in return for a free lunch & refreshments provided with compliments by The Royal Bridlington.

So far we have also received very generous donations from Bridlington Sewing Centre, Winbourne Fabrics (Moda), Pelenna Patchwork, Janome.

Lorraine from Wakefield who came to help us sew, very kindly asked for unwanted presents suitable for raffle/tombolla prizes at her work, Peter Duffy Ltd and she came laden with a huge bag full of goodies and a giant teddy - who we called George. Thank you so much to all her colleagues who kindly donated.

So if you fancy giving George a home, make sure you come along to our Quilt Show in March & purchase some raffle tickets.

Here are just a few of the quilt tops we managed to make.

We also started to make two very special quilts - one for Yorkshire Air Ambulance & one of The Childrens Hospital. These quilts will be raffled on line with all proceeds going to these charities.

Here is Scrappy Happy Stars which is for The Air Ambulance. This quilt took over  50 hours to complete.

For the Childrens hospital we asked our volunteers to make a house block each and Jackie very kindly put them together into this beautiful quilt top.

Please please purchase a ticket - its just a minimum £2 donation.
